Furman Football comes up short in Overtime thriller

A heartbreaking loss in an Overtime thriller brings Furman's football season to a close. The Paladins came up just short against 2nd ranked Montana on the road Friday night, falling 35-28 in the National Quarterfinals of the FCS.

The Paladins trailed 28-21 late in the 4th, they would get a Tyler Huff TD pass with 13 seconds left. Furman then added the extra point to tie the game at 28 and send it to overtime.

In Overtime, Montana scored on a Clifton McDowell TD pass to go up 35-28. Furman was unable to convert on 4th down on their OT possession, giving Montana the win.

A historic season for Furman now comes to a close with a record of 10-3. The Paladins won their 1st outright SoCon Title since 1990 and had their deepest playoff run since 2005.
