Furman Hoops get needed momentum with 2-0 week

Furman Basketball has picked up some needed momentum after finishing 2-0 in SoCon play last week following a climatic win over the weekend.

A strong 1st half on the defensive end propelled Furman to a 65-62 home win over Western Carolina, Saturday. The Paladins held Western Carolina to 26 1st half points and just 6 of 22 shooting from three point range.

Furman had three players in double figures. JP Pegues led the way with a team high 17, including the game winning three pointer in the closing seconds. Marcus Foster returned to the line up this past week after missing more than a month due to injury. Foster added 14 points and 9 boards in the win. Western Carolina Guard Vonterius Woolbright had a game high 27.

The win over Western came just days after Furman's blowout win over VMI. Furman is now 4-2 in SoCon play. The Paladins host league leading Samford Wednesday night. The game is set for a 7PM tipoff, you can hear all the action on The Fan Upstate.
