The Furman men’s basketball team plays its final non-conference game of the season Tuesday evening when it hosts the Presbyterian College Blue Hose at 7 p.m. from Timmons Arena. Fans can listen to the “Voice of the Paladins” Dan Scott on 97.7 FM/1330 AM in Greenville, 97.1 FM/950 AM in Spartanburg, and thru Audacy.com.
Santa Claus will be in attendance Tuesday as kids will have the opportunity to have their photo taken and let their wishes be known. It is also Ugly Sweater Night with a prize being given during the game for the best ugly sweater in attendance.
The Paladins (7-5) closed out a two-game road trip last Friday dropping a heartbreaker at Mississippi State 69-66. Alex Hunter scored a career high 30 points to lead Furman on 11-of-15 shooting and 8-for-11 behind the 3-point line. Jalen Slawson contributed 13 points after shooting 6-of-11 overall to go with eight rebounds, four assists and one steal. Conley Garrison provided 10 points, four assists, three rebounds and one steal.
Mike Bothwell dished out a team leading five assists.
The Paladins concluded the game shooting 54.3 percent (25-of-46) from the field and 51.9 percent (14-of-27) behind the 3-point line. Furman held a 10-4 advantage in fast break points and 11-9 in bench points.
Hunter paces the Paladin offense this season averaging a team best 18.9 points per game while Bothwell contributes 14.4. Slawson adds 16.1 points and a team leading 8.3 rebounds per game.
Presbyterian is currently 7-6 this season after falling 76-49 at home to Wofford on December 18. Rayshon Harrison leads the Blue Hose offensively averaging 17.6 points per game while Trevon Reddish-Rhone contributes 9.8.
Winston Hill provides 10.8 points and a team leading 7.2 rebounds per game.
Presbyterian is under the direction of third-year head coach Quinton Ferrell.
Furman is facing the Blue Hose for the 76th time in program history and leads the all-time series 58-17. Presbyterian defeated the Paladins in the last meeting, 73-71, during the 2016-17 season in Clinton. Furman has won seven out the last nine meetings in the series.
The Paladins are off until December 29 when they open Southern Conference play hosting Samford at 7 p.m. from Timmons Arena.
