For the first time since 1995, the Buffalo Bills are AFC East champions after their 48-19 blowout win over the Broncos on Saturday afternoon at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver.
It was a simple task for the Bills on Saturday to wrap up their first division title in 25 years: Just beat the Broncos. With the help of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs in the passing game and a strong defensive output against Drew Lock and the Denver offense, Buffalo cruised to victory and an 11-3 record with just two games remaining in the regular season.
Heading into this week's matchup with the New England Patriots on ESPN's Monday Night Football, the Bills find themselves in an interesting situation. Thanks to a Pittsburgh Steelers (11-3) loss to the Cincinnati Bengals (3-10-1) on Monday, the Bills currently sit with the second seed in the AFC behind the 13-1 Kansas City Chiefs.
With Buffalo holding the tie-breaker on the Steelers in the AFC, if they manage to win out the rest of the 2020 season and finish 13-3, the team would clinch that No. 2 seed in the conference and have home field advantage in the playoffs through, at least, the divisional round.
Howard Simon has been very high on the Bills' chances this winter over the past few weeks of "Howard Picks the Bills". He has picked the Bills to roll through the playoffs each of the last three weeks and make it to the AFC Championship Game, where the Chiefs only stand in Buffalo's way of reaching the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1993 season.
Up first though stands the final two games of the 2020 regular season, where Buffalo can sweep the division with wins over the Patriots and the Miami Dolphins in Week 17.
Very much like last week's picks, Howard has the Bills finishing the season strong with two more wins to go 13-3, clinch the No. 2 seed, and reach the AFC Championship Game again against the No. 1 seed Chiefs in Kansas City.
