The Brooklyn Nets will have at least one of their two stars back on Sunday.
Kevin Durant is slated to return to the Nets lineup against his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, after missing the last three games due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols.
Kyrie Irving, on the other hand, will miss his third straight game for personal reasons.
Durant was forced to quarantine a mandatory seven days after he came into close contact with someone that was COVID-19 positive.
“Kevin is excited,” head coach Steve Nash said, per ESPN. “He was devastated to have to sit out. We all know he loves the game and loves to hoop, so he’s excited to be and obviously we have one happy coach to have him back.”
Durant had tested positive for COVID-19 back in the spring and is reportedly still showing antibodies in his testing.
As for Irving, Nash would not disclose much more information about his status.
“All the communication with Ky between the organization I’m going to keep private,” he said. “But I’m sure you’ll hear from him at some point.”
