Late Field Goal lifts Furman to road win 31-28

Late game heroics lifted Furman to a 31-28 win at Kennesaw State, Saturday evening. After a scoreless 1st quarter, Kennesaw got on the board first with a 72 yard TD drive to lead 7-0, early in the 2nd quarter.

Furman would score twice in the last 6 minutes of the 1st half to lead 14-7 at the break. The Paladins scored on a 3rd quarter TD drive to lead 21-7 after three.

Kennesaw State cut the lead to 7 with an 80 yard TD drive to make it 21-14. Furman answered on their next possession scoring to make it 28-14. The Owls then scored twice in less than 6 minutes to tie the game at 28 with 3:29 left to play.

Furman then engineered a near text book late game drive. The Paladin offense chewed over 3 minutes off the clock. The drive was capped by a 19 yard Ian Williams Field Goal with 21 seconds left. The Owls had one last chance but the Furman defense picked off a pass to seal the win.

Furman QB Tyler Huff had 4 rushing touchdowns in the game. Furman is 2-1 they open Southern Conference play Saturday hosting Mercer. You can hear every Furman game, all season long on The Fan Upstate.
