At 31-39, The Atlanta Braves find themselves behind the National League leading New York Mets by 13 games, which sounds almost insurmountable.
What is strange, is that through 70 games, the Braves still have not played the Mets at all, meaning they have 12 left against the team. That makes the upcoming home series against the Mets even that more important.
In fact, the Braves face the Mets at home this week for three, then go to New York for four next week, an opportunity for them to make up some serious ground. As a matter of fact, the next three weeks of games for the Braves could make or break their entire season. Randy McMichael and Abe Gordon explore this series further, and it’s weight on how the Braves will view the rest of the season.
