The Buccaneers beat the Packers 31-26 to advance to the Super Bowl on Sunday afternoon and that was followed by the Chiefs knocking off the Bills 38-24 to secure their spot in Tampa Bay as well.
While there was the usual complaints about the officiating, the big story from both games were a pair of inexcusable field goals by the losing teams.
The Packers kicked a field goal just before the two-minute warning when trailing by 8 and they never saw the ball again. It was a 4th-and-goal decision from Matt LaFluer that QB Aaron Rodgers didn't seem to agree with.
For the Bills, it was a slightly more defensible decision, but not by much. Buffalo decided to kick a field goal at the end of the first half while trailing 21-9. They went to halftime 21-12 and never got the game down to a one-possession score the rest of the way. For Sean McDermott it was deja vu as he made a similar decision early in the 3rd quarter also, and neither was received well by fans.
With all the trend of young offensive-minded head coaches, it's a pair of veterans in Bruce Arians and Andy Reid who will meet in this year's Super Bowl.
