The South Carolina Gamecocks will look to punch their ticket to the College World Series this weekend, but the road to Omaha runs through Gainesville, Florida.
South Carolina will take on homestanding Florida Gators Friday at 6 PM in Game 1 of the Gainesville Super Regional. It's a best two-out-of-three series with Game 2 slated for 3 Pm Saturday and If needed Game 3 would be Sunday.
The Gamecocks were dominate in their Regional last weekend, outscoring opponents by a total of 41-11 in three games. South Carolina swept Florida in Columbia during a three game regular season series back in April.
Righthander James Hicks is slated to get the start for SC on the hill in game, he's 8-1 with a 3.61 ERA this series. Florida will counter with righthander Brandon Sproat who is 7-3 with a 4.70 ERA.
Game 1 will be nationally televised on ESPN 2. The Gamecocks are looking for their 1st College World Series appearance since 2012.
