(670 The Score) The Bears have made a shrewd addition to their coaching staff, as they're set to hire Thomas Brown as their new passing game coordinator, a source said Tuesday evening. The Chicago Tribune first reported the news.
Brown served as the Panthers' offensive coordinator in 2023. He joins the Bears' coaching staff alongside newly hired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, whom he previously worked alongside with the Rams.
Brown, 37, interviewed for the Bears' offensive coordinator position earlier in January. He has worked in the NFL since 2020, when hired by the Rams as their running backs coach.
Brown's hiring gives the Bears a key figure alongside Waldron. Brown was voted the second-best offensive coordinator in the NFL this past season in a survey run through the NFL Players Association.
Brown will fill the role previously occupied by Tyke Tolbert, who was also the Bears' wide receivers coach. Tolbert was fired earlier in January along with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and three other assistants.
The Bears officially hired quarterbacks coach Kerry Joseph on Friday. The team has yet to formally hire for its wide receivers coach and running backs coach.
The hiring of Brown hasn't yet been officially announced by the Bears.
