The South Carolina High School League's longtime leader is set to step away. SCHSL Commisioner Jerome Singleton has announced that he will retire next year.
The decision comes amid a groundswell of uncertainity and pressure. Currently, there's a proposed bill in the State House that would abolish the High School League and replace it with a state ran governing body.
Singleton has held the position since 2005. He is set to retire no later than July 1st of 2027.
