Although Clemson Football has a bye, there will still be hard hitting action action in Pickens County, this weekend. Conflict Mixed Martial Arts will be holding their upcoming Judgement Day Event on Saturday. The event will be at the Market At The Mill Event Center in Pickens, South Carolina.
The card features well over a dozen bouts and two title fights will headline the marquee. In one of those two co-main events, Greenville based fighter Darius Parker will take on Mitch Pollard for the Middleweight Title. In the other Co-Main Event Asheville's JR Banks will take on Josh Cook for the Bantamweight Title.
Parker is a Florida Native who came to the Upstate to wrestle at Lander University. He had his 1st fight in February of 2023 and is unbeaten, thus far. Parker trains at the Upstate Karate Dojo in Greenville under UFC Legend Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson.
His opponent Mitchell Pollard is also undefeated. He's a South Georgia native and trains with IceBox MMA. Parker said of his training " It's been super helpful and the whole family is involved and around in the process. They are helping me develop and get my techniques to where they need to be".
Parker said of his upcoming fight with Mitchell Pollard "It's the biggest fight of my career to this point, my first title fight and my biggest challenge so far". The unbeaten combatants will meet Saturday in Pickens for the Conflict MMA Middle Weight Crown.
JR Banks is 5-1 and is training with American Top Team in Asheville under UFC Fighter Steve Montgomery. He is also a former college wrestler having spent time in the NC State and Greensboro College programs. His opponent Josh Cook is 7-1 and is one the top ranked Bantamweight fighters in the Carolinas.
Going into the fight Banks said " I could not be more excited. I been putting in the work and cool stuff keeps on happening. I am going to just keep putting in the work and see what happens".
Banks will take on Josh Cook and said "I'm at the point as an athlete where I put the pressure on and try and break people. Drag them into deep waters and drowned them". Josh Cook is a tough guy and a dangerous guy but I think I can put the pressure on him and finish this in the 2nd or 3rd round".
Those two Title fights and a dozen more fights spanning various weight classes and divisions are set for the event. Belltime is 5PM at the Market At The Mill Event Center in Pickens, SC. For more info or tickets to the event visit https://conflictmma.com/
