The Uconn Huskies have made history after downing Purdue 75-60 in the Men's National title game, Monday night. Uconn is now the 1st program to win back-to-back National Titles since Florida did it in 2006 and 2007.
The Huskies led 36-30 at the half, they used an 11-4 run to open the 2nd half. That run extended their lead to double digits, which they would maintain that lead rest of the way.
Uconn shutdown Purdue's perimeter shooting holding them to 1 of 7 from three point range. The Huskies had four players in double figures, Tristen Newton led the way with a team high 20 points. Big man Zach Edey had 37 points and 10 boards in the losing effort for Purdue.
The Huskies are now just the third program to repeat as champions since 1974. As we mentioned, Florida did it in 2006 and 2007. Duke was the other in 1991 and 1992.
