The high school basketball playoffs started around South Carolina last Wednesday and Thursday with the 1st round. The 2nd round games were completed Friday and Saturday. That now leaves just 4 teams in the Upper State bracket in each class, as the Upper State Semifinals will be held this Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday at sites around the 864. Below are scores from Saturday and the matchups for the Upper State Semifinal round.

5A Boys Upper State Semifinals Wednesday
Dorman goes to Fort Mill. The Cavs fall victim to an old antiquated formatting issue in the playoffs. Once the playoffs enters the 3rd round and two teams are both region champs or have same region finish, the bracket determines who gets home court.
That's done instead of seeding the bracket all the way out 1-16 and letting the better seed get homecourt. With Dorman being ranked #1 in 5A and being Region 2 Champs, if it were fully seeded they would get home court. It's an old rule and way the SCHSL has operated in football and basketball playoffs for some time and has long been a bit controversial with many around the state.
Hanna Boys are at Lexington with that same format of the bracket determining the home team in the 3rd round when you have two region champion teams. Which is the case here as well.

West Oak Girls fell at Region 3 Champs Blue Ridge 47-29.
Region 1 Champs Walhalla able to edge out TR tonight 45-42 in OT. Was a highly competitive game. TR missed 10 free throws in the game and 3 front end of 1-1's in the final minute. TR came an eye lash from winning it with a buzzer beater 50 foot attempt. In OT Walhalla outscored them 7-4. For Walhalla Marnie Baxter led the way with 15, Kami Roach with 10 and 6 assists,
