There are a number of Juneteenth Celebrations happening around the ATL, but one of the informative celebrations is happening at the Atlanta History Center. The museum is highlighting baseball legend Hank Aaron with an exhibit entitled "More Than Brave." This exhibit will act as a headliner for a number of other pop up exhibits in celebration of Juneteenth.
Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19th and commemorates this day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, TX to inform enslaved persons that President Abraham Lincoln had signed the Emancipation Proclamation more than two years previously, ending slavery and granting them their freedom.
