According to CeeLo Green, Goodie Mob is getting ready to hang up the mic. CeeLo Green made the shocking announcement on May 4th via his Instrgram post.
Goodie Mob came together back in the 90’s after meeting Atlanta production gurus Organized Noize. T-Mo and Khujo were a duo known as The Lumberjacks; Gipp and Ceelo were solo artists. The individual members all appeared on OutKast’s 1994 debut southernplayalisticadillacmusik; and at the suggestion of the crew’s associates, they came together to form Goodie Mob.
Although this news may be shocking, this is not the first time that the group split up. After 1999's World Party, CeeLo went on to pursue a solo career. Gipp then followed suit after 2004’s One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show. The group reunited in 2013 for Age Against The Machine and followed that up with Survival Kit in 2020.
This announcement ironically comes at a time when Dungeon Family members have some amazing things happening. For instance it was just announced that Outkast is getting inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and this Friday, the unveiling of a moment honoring Rico Wade, of Organized Noize, is happening in Eastpoint.
CeeLo did announce that they are about to work on a farewell album and tour God willing, so there should be an opportunity to show them love before they hang it up for good.
