10-year-old on e-scooter seriously injured after being struck by vehicle in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 10-year-old girl from Niagara Falls sustained serious injuries to her head and leg after being struck by a vehicle late Sunday afternoon.

Police say the girl was riding an e-scooter on Marine Memorial Drive around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday. The girl traveled into the intersection between 100th Street and Marine Memorial Drive when a 44-year-old woman, who had the right of way, struck the girl.

The girl was not wearing any protective gear.

Niagara Falls Police and Niagara County Ambulance Service responded, with the latter taking the child to Oishei Children's Hospital in the City of Buffalo. She was immediately taken into surgery.

Her condition is not known at this time.

The driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation, according to Niagara Falls Police.

The incident comes just six days after a man on an e-scooter suffered serious injuries after being hit at the intersection of Maple Road and Bailey Avenue in Amherst.
