BT: How has Steve Cohen era been any different than the Wilpons?

As the Mets inch closer and closer to rock bottom after another disastrous loss, BT wants to know how things are any different than they were under previous ownership.

“I think the Wilpons still own the team,” BT said. “What is the difference between Cohen’s ownership run and the Wilpons?

“A few more bucks on the payroll, but that’s it. Dysfunction, bad contracts, empty seats, and the Mets are a laughingstock. What’s different?”

The Wilpon era was seen as a dark, dark era for the Mets, and many thought Steve Cohen buying the team, armed with more wealth than any other owner in the sport, meant that brighter days were ahead. But BT says it seems like nothing has changed.

“It just really feels like the Wilpons, minus a few bucks,” BT said. “Don’t forget, the Wilpons gave you a couple good seasons too…they got to the World Series a couple times.

“When you start showing signs of dysfunction…utter, comedic, pathetic dysfunction, I’m asking again: can somebody explain to me how Steve Cohen, who was put on this ungodly pedestal when he didn’t earn it, how is he different than the Wilpons?”
