C-Mac sounds off on 'inept' Mets offense after sweep in Seattle
After the Mets offense was once again quiet in Seattle, C-Mac opened Monday morning's show by sounding off on the state of the lineup, which managed just one run during the entire three-game set.
"This team was supposed to be, at the start of the year, carried by its offense," C-Mac said. "It wasn't at the start of the year…quite plainly, if they do not score, they do not win.
"Pete Alonso, after hitting two home runs against Colorado, did nothing this series. Nimmo is ice cold for the last month, has been brutally bad. J.D. Martinez has done nothing. Lindor is the only one who did anything this series."
The Mets were shut out through the first two games and got just a solo home run from Jeff McNeil in Sunday's series finale, as New York was swept by the Mariners and are back on the outside looking in on a playoff spot. To get back into a Wild Card spot, C-Mac says the solution is simple: the bats need to wake up again, as this team can't be carried by its pitching.
"This offense is not good enough," C-Mac said. "What were the Mets doing when they were getting back into this playoff race? They were pounding everyone. They were beating up on good starting pitching.
"This offense just gave you one of the most inept three days we've seen in a long time."
