C-Mac: The Mets culture has shifted behind bat of Francisco Lindor

The Mets have won five of seven since holding their players-only meeting after a disastrous loss to the Dodgers, and Francisco Lindor, one of the players that took the point in that meeting, has been on fire ever since.

After going 2-for-5 with a home run in Wednesday’s win over the Nationals, Lindor is batting a blistering .429 with two home runs and a 1.198 OPS in the seven games since the meeting, which C-Mac says has helped shift the culture in the Mets clubhouse, something that was badly needed.

“Lindor stood up and said ‘You know what, I am the leader of this team,’” C-Mac said. “While Pete Alonso wasn’t there - he was getting his finger looked at after being hit by a pitch - Lindor stepped up, took control of the situation…and since then, he’s been at his best.

“He’s been swinging a hot bat. He’s gonna get his numbers up to respectability relatively quickly.”

Lindor, who had a brutal start to the season, has actually been showing signs of breaking out in the weeks leading up to that fateful closed-door meeting. Over his last 17 games, he is batting .347 with a .953 OPS after coming into that stretch hitting .195 with a lowly .630 OPS. His numbers are on the rise, and in turn, so are the Mets.

“Hopefully this is where he makes his stand and brings the team back,” C-Mac said.
