Gio hilariously compares Edwin Diaz on Mets to man nipples
Edwin Diaz looked strong again in his first season back from knee surgery, striking out a pair in a perfect inning of work on Monday night against the Tigers.
Diaz has now struck out three and allowed just one baserunner in two innings to begin the season, but Gio isn't sure what good that does when the Mets always seem to be losing.
"When you're a terrible team with a great closer, it's like men with nipples," Gio said. "What are you using them for?
"Fair comparison? What do we have these things for? There's really no point."
It always helps to have one of the best relievers in baseball in your bullpen, but as Gio illustrated with his hilarious analogy, it doesn't do much if there is rarely a lead to protect.
"Edwin Diaz having an all-time year on a terrible team means nothing," Gio said.
