Loogy: Francisco Lindor has earned his contract, despite critics continuing to ignore his value

Tommy Lugauer has been beating the drum of Francisco Lindor praise all season, and has preached positivity when it comes to the Mets since they began their turnaround into one of the best teams in baseball since June.

After Lindor came up with another huge hit on Wednesday night, Loogy reiterated that Lindor belongs in the MVP conversation, and despite what many haters seem to think, has earned his record $341 million contract that he signed prior to the 2021 season.

“It’s Steve Cohen’s money,” Loogy said. “It’s not our money. If our salaries dropped on the floor, Steve Cohen wouldn’t pick it up. He’s a billionaire.

“Lindor has lived up to the contract. He was great last year, he was great this year. So he’s lived up to that. Thirty home runs, thirty steals, 100 runs.”

Still, Lindor has his share of critics, even within the Mets fanbase, but Loogy says it is due to reasons unrelated to his performance, as anyone watching should be able to see the shortstop’s value to the team.

“When he started hitting and was moved to the leadoff spot and got going, this team turned it around,” Loogy said.

“People just don’t like this guy…I think it’s the fact that he dyes his hair, his ears are pierced, his glove looks like something I’d wear at the Electric Daisy Carnival. He doesn’t fit the mold of what people think a baseball player should look like, and people just don’t like him.”
