Boomer: No way Rangers stick with Matt Rempe in crucial game six
Matt Rempe took just four shifts in Thursday's game five loss to the Panthers, and Boomer is convinced that we have seen the end of the rookie in this Eastern Conference Final.
"Matt Rempe barely played last night. I think that ship has sailed in terms of the energy and all that," Boomer said. "The lineup change is going to happen again. Rempe will not be in the lineup for game six in Florida. No way. He's gonna put [Blake] Wheeler in the lineup, I would think."
Rempe has been a cult favorite among the fanbase, and Peter Laviolette has tried to use him as a sparkplug that will match the Panthers' physicality. But Boomer says the far more important objective is to get the team's top players going.
"Mika and Kreider play better when they're shorthanded, because whoever they put at right wing does nothing out there, whether it be Chytil or Kakko," Boomer said. "I want to give Chytil a pass because he hasn't played…it's amazing that he's playing right now. But he's doing nothing. Not creating anything, not doing anything for Mika and Kreider."
