C-Mac: How about Aaron Boone gets some credit for Gleyber Torres bounceback?
Gleyber Torres has logged multi-hit games in all three of his appearances since being benched for two games, including a home run in Toronto on Friday night.
Torres’ hot streak has also coincided with Marcus Stroman showing visible frustration on the mound when Torres couldn’t turn a double play, which happened right before Torres’ home run.
C-Mac says Stroman seems to be getting credit for Torres’ recent awakening, when it should be Aaron Boone getting props for benching him when the offense is struggling as a whole.
“We don’t want to give Boone credit for anything,” C-Mac said. “Its not the benching, it’s not the two days off, it’s Stroman yelling at him on the field.
“It’s not what Boone did, God forbid we give Boone any credit. No, it’s Stroman yelling at him. Clearly that’s what he needed. Putting his ass on the bench and taking him out of the lineup didn’t impact him at all.”
C-Mac says Stroman’s frustration likely impacted the team as a whole, but for Torres, why doesn’t Boone get any love?
“Yes, it was directed at Gleyber Torres,” C-Mac said. “But I think the whole team needed to hear that more than Gleyber did.”
