Moose: These Yankees make it 'very difficult to believe' season will turn around
Filling in for BT and Sal, Marc Malusis opened Monday’s show sounding off on the difficulty of buying into the Yankees after Sunday’s ninth-inning collapse.
“The Yankees make it really difficult to believe,” Moose said. “The Yankees make it really difficult to believe that this team can turn it around, for a myriad of reasons.
“You get the same nonsense, whether it be the same platitudes from the manager in Aaron Boone…there is a lack of belief that this team has everything they need to turn it around.”
The Yanks looked better in their final series before the All-Star break, coming one out short of a sweep of the first-place Orioles, but Moose has years of recent evidence to suggest that buying back in to this group is a dangerous strategy.
“That has been what the Yankees have been defined by in recent memory. There is not success to lean back on,” Moose said. “This season is very reminiscent, despite some names being changed, of the 2022 campaign.
“It doesn’t exactly give you a positive feel about this group going into the second half. A group that has played 98 games and played their best baseball about 6-7 weeks ago.”
