The New York Mets are the only organization Amed Rosario has ever known, as he signed out of the Dominican Republic at age 16 and spent his entire eight-year career in the Mets’ system.
Once the shortstop of the future and a consensus Top 10 prospect in baseball entering 2017, Rosario debuted that year, and hit .268 in 403 games from 2017-2020 in Queens.
And now, he has to say goodbye, headed to Cleveland as part of the return for Carlos Carrasco and Francisco Lindor – and Rosario took to Instagram to thank New York for the love.
“To the New York Mets organization, thank you for taking a chance with a 16 year old,” Rosario wrote. “To all Mets fans, you will always have a place in my heart, New York is truly amazing. I gave you my all each and every day I stepped in Citi Field. Thank you for EVERYTHING from the bottom of my heart!”
