“In this class, we will dive into the science of matching the building blocks of flavor, including acid, tannin, fat, spice, and salt,” reads a description of the class on One Day University’s website. “We will talk about some of the classic food and wine pairings and why they work. Finally, we will discuss some modern cuisines and what wines are being chosen to complement them by today’s top sommeliers and wine professionals.”
The class will also give you more confidence to approach a restaurant’s wine list and the knowledge to ask specific questions when picking out a bottle at a store.
The online talk will be moderated by William Schragis, Chief Product Innovation Officer at Barrell Craft Spirits and a graduate and lecturer at the Culinary Institute of America.
Following the conclusion of the one-hour lecture, Schragis will offer a live Q&A session where attendees can dive deeper into wine and food pairings.
Admission into the “Pairing Food and Wine: The Romance and the Chemistry” talk requires a subscription to One Day University, which also features unlimited access to hundreds of entertaining and informative lectures on science, history, art, politics and more.
