You can find all sorts of delicious fare at Globe Life Field, and you can guarantee there will always be a line for Hurtado Barbecue.  It’s incredible.

However, Hurtado’s recently served something with more heat than its Jalapeno sausage with a tweet calling out Astros fans after their game against the Rangers on Wednesday.

Following the Rangers’ 12-3 loss, the pit boss at Hurtado’s location at Globe Life Field apparently told owner Brandon Hurtado that Astros fans were “exceptionally obnoxious and rude.”  Hurtado told WFAA, “There were people in Astros jerseys walking out in handcuffs. Fights breaking out. People rude to our employees at the stand. So, it was a rough series all around.”

Later, the official Hurtado Barbecue X (formerly Twitter) account posted “Astros have the worst fan base in any major league sport anywhere. And I used to think the Giants were bad.”  The post has since been deleted.

This led to a wave of Astros fans calling out the restaurant online and leaving 1-star reviews on the restaurant’s Yelp and Google pages.

Still, Hurtado understands that the actions of a few do no represent all Astros fans.  "I think there's fans like that in every fan base, unfortunately," he said of the fans who treated his staff badly at Globe Life Field. "But we just haven't seen anything like that this season so far."
