The city of McKinney has grown quite a bit in recent years, and it appears that trend will continue, as a local developer recently submitted a proposal for a massive new community on the north side of town. The proposal called for 10,000 homes, as well as commercial and office space. Now, the development group is awaiting approval for the 1,800 acre plot that would bring even more people and business to McKinney.

Dallas-based Republic Property Group has helped build up DFW quite a bit in recent years with their 7,200-acre Walsh community southwest of Fort Worth and the more than 1,000-acre Light Farms in Celina. Now, they have their eyes set on Honey Creek, a site located in McKinney west of Highway 75 and next to the future U.S. Route 380 bypass. Republic submitted their plan to the McKinney City Council in December, according to Dallas Morning News.

“Communities of this nature are complex and take a long time to come to fruition. Republic Property Group believes in the future growth and demand for homes in D-FW and McKinney,” the company said in a statement. After several years discussing the property, it appears Republic may soon get their chance to help grow McKinney even more.
