Back in June, an aspiring chef went viral after creating a watermelon pizza that split the internet. Now, Dominos Australia has decided to make their own version of the viral dish, and the internet is once again divided. In a video shared online by the pizza chain, they create a pepperoni pizza with a watermelon base, and while some think it looks disgusting, others can’t wait to have a taste.
The original watermelon pizza recipe was shared by Oliver Paterson, who Dominos credited as their inspiration. That video has been viewed over 3.4 million times, so Dominos Australia is hoping at least some of those people give their version a try. “Y’all keep asking us for a low carb option," Dominos captioned their now viral video.
According to Fox News, the Dominos version comes with tomato sauce and pepperoni, where the original recipe called for BBQ sauce and chorizo. However, Patterson wasn’t a fan of the new version, saying “it’s very vital to use BBQ sauce rather than marinara/tomato. BBQ is already a tried and tested flavor combination with watermelon.” Now it’s up to pizza lovers to decide which recipe is better.
