Seeing teachers outside of school is always a bit strange for students. Of course, every teacher has a life outside of school, and one Fort Worth teacher recently got to show off her work outside the classroom on television. Kathleen Cluchey, a science teacher at Young Women's Leadership Academy, was recently named ‘Chopped’ Champion on a recent episode of the Food Network show.
For the last nine months, Young Women's Leadership Academy’s science teacher Kathleen Cluchey was forced to keep a secret. She was featured on an episode of ‘Chopped’ but couldn’t reveal she had won until the episode aired. Now that ‘Chopped’ has aired their special Thankful for Teachers episode, Cluchey can brag a bit about her cooking skills.

“I'm thrilled that it's out there for the world to see!" said Cluchey. According to NBC DFW, the Fort Worth teacher made chili in the first round, poached turkey tenderloin with a salsa verde made with mashed sweet potatoes and a brussels sprout slaw and bourbon apple ice cream with toasted pecan shortbread for dessert to claim her victory. After this win, her students may start asking for some of her cooking as an award for good grades.
