Kelly Clarkson has surprised many as host of her own daytime talk show, ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ but while the singer has done a good job making the transition to television, she has made sure to not forget what got her there. Often times on her show, Clarkson decides to belt out a song as part of her ‘Kellyoke” segment, covering classic songs by iconic artists. This week, Clarkson decided to take on the Prince song ‘Kiss,’ and many fans were stunned by her performance.
On Tuesday’s episode of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ the host joined her band ‘Y’all’ for a slowed down version of ‘Kiss’ by Prince. Fans broke out in applause the moment the song ended, while those watching from home began to shower Clarkson with praise online. According to Billboard, this is not the first time Clarkson has performed ‘Kiss,’ also singing the song at a 2017 event.
As for Clarkson, it was recently reported that she will be taking over Ellen DeGeneres’ timeslot in fall 2022. Hopefully she will continue to cover beloved songs for ‘Kellyoke’ once the show moves. It seems all that ‘American Idol’ training was worth it.
