Summer may still be a few months away, but with temperatures starting to rise many are already thinking about pool season. While last year’s pool season was a bit of a struggle, as local pools dealt with lifeguard shortages, this year they are hoping to get ahead of the problem. Pools in multiple cities throughout DFW are already recruiting lifeguards with multiple openings currently available.
On Saturday, both the city of Plano and Dallas will hold job fairs in hopes of filling multiple summer positions. For Plano, the city’s Parks and Recreation department is looking to hire anyone 14 years old or older as lifeguards, gymnastics coaches, concession attendants and camp counselors.
According to WFAA, the event will run from 9 A.M to noon at the Carpenter Park Recreation Center, and will include interviews, drug screenings and hiring.

The city of Dallas will also hold a hiring event on Saturday at the Central Library downtown. Arlington has started recruiting lifeguards for their pools as well, offering free training and certifications along with free uniforms and equipment. Hopefully this helps prevent a lifeguard shortage this year, and pool season can happen without issue.
