To some musicians, song writing is just telling a story in a different form. Still, it’s rare for even the most famous songs to inspire a movie or television series. That’s why many were shocked when it was announced recently that the music of Huey Lewis and The News would be used as the inspiration for an upcoming rom-com series.

While not many details have been given, it was reported that Fox has signed a deal with Huey Lewis to work on the currently untitled project. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, a source said “Each season of the Untitled Huey Lewis Project is a self-contained romantic comedy inspired by the music of a beloved pop star. Huey Lewis sets the beat as the inspiration of Season 1, which interweaves a present day love story with a teen rom-com set in 1986. It is conceived as an homage to the great rom-coms of the ‘80s and ‘90s and a reminder that the power of love is, indeed, a curious thing.”

Back in 2019, Huey Lewis discussed a potential television project after an illness made it so he could no longer perform. Now, it appears that show is finally here, and will bring plenty of 80’s nostalgia along with it.
