When it comes to music memorabilia, collectors will purchase just about anything that has come in contact with a musician. While most go after instruments or clothing used by the artist, some want to get even more personal. Luckily for those collectors, a music memorabilia auction is currently accepting bids for six strands of Kurt Cobain’s hair, and plenty of Nirvana fans want in on the action.
The ‘Amazing Music Auction’ began accepting online bids for items with connections to Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and many more this week.
However, the one item everyone seems to be focused on is Kurt Cobain’s hair.
According to the official listing, the hair comes from a haircut the Nirvana frontman had in 1989.
“This one-of-a-kind artifact is entirely fresh-to-market, and accompanied by an impeccable lineage of provenance including images of Kurt posing with the woman who cut this hair, scissors in hand, and a fantastic shot of the hair actually being cut!” says the item’s description. The haircut occurred while Nirvana was on tour in support of their debut album, ‘Bleach,’ according to NME. Hopefully the hair’s new owner will put it to good use.
