When Houston man Demery Wilson says he doesn't want onions on his burger, he really means he doesn't want onions on his burger.
Wilson filed a lawsuit last month claiming that a Whataburger put onions on his hamburger when he specifically ordered it onion-free.
Wilson says he is allergic to onions, and consuming the burger resulted in him needing medical attention.
The petition filed by Wilson claimed that Whataburger "failed to act in accordance with the appropriate standard of care," causing Wilson to "suffer personal injuries." The filing claims that Whataburger was "negligent" by providing Wilson a meal that included onions, and that its inclusion is akin to that of a "manufacturing defect."
According to NBC News, Wilson is seeking "monetary relief over $250,000.00 but less than $1,000,000," which includes damages, penalties, costs, expenses, prejudgment interest and all other relief.
