Atlanta police are hoping that photos of a person of interest will help them solve a homicide in the city over the weekend. The images are from surveillance video from the home of a neighbor.
A $10,000 reward is being offered as police investigate the stabbing death of 77 year old Eleanor Bowles.
The elderly woman was found dead around 5:30pm Saturday in the garage of her Buckhead home, which police say is located in a gated community.
According to APD Deputy Chief Charles Hampton, Bowles' son had come home to visit her for the holidays. "This is not a way that a family should have to spend their holiday season," said Hampton, "mourning and grieving the death of a loved one."
Authorities say they believe Bowles was inside the home at 6 Paces West Terrace NW when someone tried to steal her luxury SUV.
APD Homicide Commander Lt. Germain Dearlove said "We believe that the individual attempted to steal the vehicle. Ms. Bowles may have encountered him and she was killed."
Bowles' vehicle, a 2021 Lexus RS350, was later recovered in DeKalb County.
