Juandolyn Stokes: Bridging Generations through Dialogue and Advocacy at the “State of Black Georgia” Forum

Juandolyn Stokes, the dynamic host of “On Point with Juandolyn Stokes,” has once again solidified her role as a vital voice in the community by moderating a pivotal panel discussion at the “Bridging Generations: The State of Black Georgia” forum. This event, held in collaboration with the Urban League of Greater Atlanta and the NAACP at Clark Atlanta University, focused on the critical theme of reclaiming voices and votes within the Black community.

Under the tutelage of Nancy Flake Johnson, the Urban League of Greater Atlanta has initiated a “Reclaim Your Vote” Campaign to mobilize and empower people to exercise their right to vote. Recently Juandolyn Stokes partnered with the Urban League to host “Project 2025 Exposed: Protecting Our Future and Communities” featuring Representative Jasmine Crockett, United State House of Representatives 30th District - Texas. This ongoing campaign led to this dynamic discussion at Clark Atlanta University.

This panel discussion, titled “Protecting Our People: Reclaiming Our Voices and Vote,” brought together a remarkable lineup of dignitaries, each contributing their insights and expertise on the importance of civic engagement and advocacy.

President Gerald Griggs, the Georgia NAACP State President, emphasized the urgency of mobilizing the Black electorate to ensure their voices are heard in the political arena. His passionate advocacy for voting rights resonated deeply with the audience, highlighting the historical and ongoing struggles for representation.

Representative Derrick Jackson, who serves Georgia’s 68th House District, shared his experiences on the frontlines of legislation and the necessity of grassroots movements in effecting change. His call to action reminded attendees that every vote counts, and that collective efforts can lead to tangible outcomes in the community and to vote down ballot.

Nichola Hines, President of the League of Women Voters Atlanta, added another layer to the discussion by addressing the vital role of nonpartisan organizations in educating voters. Her insights underscored the significance of informed voting and the power that comes from understanding one’s rights and responsibilities as a citizen and knowing where your polls are located and all the voting deadlines for registration and early voting.

Bianca Webb, Esq., ULGATL Social and Cultural Chair and Northern District Representative for the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division, provided a fresh perspective on legal advocacy and the importance of representation in all sectors of society. Her contributions highlighted the intersection of law, social justice, and community empowerment, reinforcing the idea that reclaiming one’s voice also involves understanding and navigating the legal system.

Throughout the panel, Juandolyn Stokes exhibited her trademark ability to foster meaningful dialogue. Her skillful moderation ensured that each voice was amplified, creating a space for rich discussion and shared experiences. Stokes’ commitment to community engagement and empowerment shone through, as she encouraged attendees to not only listen but also to take action within their own communities and ask questions to the panelists.

The “Bridging Generations: The State of Black Georgia” forum was not just an event; it was a clarion call for unity and activism. Juandolyn Stokes, through her hosting and moderating, played a crucial role in this vital conversation, inspiring those present to engage in the democratic process and advocate for the issues that matter most to them.
