On Point Exclusive: “Unpacking Project 2025 in Real Time” with The Urban League of Greater Atlanta

WAOK listeners tuned in for a powerful and eye-opening On Point Exclusive titled “Unpacking Project 2025 in Real Time,” hosted by Juandolyn Stokes, host of On Point with Juandolyn Stokes. In collaboration with the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, this special panel broadcast created space for a critical community conversation on the looming implications of Project 2025 under our current Trump Administration. This follow up conversation acted as an imperative sequel to the original "Project 2025 Exposed: Protecting Our Future and Communities.” intersecting with the lives, rights, and futures of Black communities across Georgia and the nation.

Held against the backdrop of mounting political tension and increasing concern about voter turnout, the discussion featured a distinguished panel of advocates, elected officials, and policy experts who broke down the Trump-aligned Project 2025 plan, examined its proposed overhaul of the federal government, and offered action strategies for proactive civic engagement.

The esteemed panel featured Nancy Flake Johnson, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta who set the tone with a stark reminder that this is not just politics as usual. Toni Wiley, Director of Advocacy for the National Urban League’s Washington Bureau, Georgia State Representative Derrick Jackson (District 68), Roger Bruce (former District 61) and Christopher Bruce, Esq., Policy Director for the ACLU of Georgia, explored how both the pre- and post-election environments are shaping access to power, policy, and protection for Black Georgians

This crucial conversation between Juandolyn Stokes and The Urban League unveiled..
The Trump Agenda in 30 Days: Panelists reviewed the most impactful policy shifts during the early Trump years, including judicial appointments and agency rollbacks, and how Project 2025 builds on that legacy with an aggressive plan to rewire federal governance.
The Reality of Low Voter Turnout: With voter apathy threatening the power of the Black electorate, the panel issued a call to action: organize, educate, and vote at every level—especially in the upcoming presidential election.
Pre-Election vs. Post-Election Urgency: The community must not wait until November to get engaged. Voter registration, ballot education, and candidate accountability start now.
An Administration for All of Us: The current administration, panelists agreed, must be held accountable to address the needs of everyday Americans, not just the political elite. Advocacy efforts must ensure that Black voices shape national priorities.

The broadcast concluded with a focused Community Action Plan including voter registration drives, youth education on civic participation, and strategic pressure on local and federal officials to uphold democratic norms and protect civil rights. Listeners left with a sense of power, participation and progress.

The Urban League is dedicated to economic empowerment, equality, and civil rights for African Americans and other historically underserved communities. Its core mission is to enable individuals and families to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights.
