Some of the most important people the world has ever seen come from the Lone Star state. Throughout every industry, Texans have helped shape society in a number of ways. Now, a new book has named the 50 Texans that helped shape the state they come from, and 11 are from DFW.
To celebrate Texas Monthly’s 50th anniversary, the publication is releasing a new book called ‘Lone Star Rising,’ that will be a collection of stories and photographs of some of the most influential Texans of the last 50 years. Not only does the book include some of the biggest names in history, but also a few “lesser-known individuals who have been toiling on the sidelines, quietly and intentionally shaping” the state, claims Texas Monthly.
According to Dallas Culture Map, the North Texans featured on the list include; Tom Landry, Mary Kay Ash, George W. Bush, Herb Kelleher, O’Neil Ford, H. Ross Perot, T. Boone Pickens, Dean Fearing, Anne Lindsay Greer, Stephan Pyles, and Larry McMurtry. The book is set to be released on June 6.
Now, many Texans will have to wait to see if they make the cut for the next 50 years.
