It's a rivalry that dates back to 1892 and has is the second most played rivalry in FBS Football. It's a rivalry that hits home for both schools, which are separated by about 175 miles. Auburn insiders have told me for years, that other than Alabama beating Georgia matters more than any other game. Many of the players involved on both sides, were recruited by the other school. Auburn always has Georgia natives on their roster and vice versa.

Auburn comes in with something to prove. The Tigers are 4-1, but three of those wins were Akron, Alabama State and Georgia State, with the latter being closer than expected. Auburn lost it's only match up with a ranked team this season, falling at Penn State in a hard fought 28-20 game. They did beat LSU last week 24-19, but the jury is still out on the Bayou Bengals. So the quality of that win remains to be seen. Auburn does feature a run defense that while it's not Georgia quality, is still very good ranking 8th nationally.

#2 Georgia is 5-0 and is coming off an impressive win, thumping top 10 foe Arkansas. The Bulldogs have made their case for the #1 spot. Georgia's defense is not only the cream of the crop nationally, by the end of the year may rank up there historically. The Bulldogs rank #1 in total defense, allowing 3.3 yards per play which is over a half a yard less than the next competitor. Georgia is #1 nationally in pass defense, #2 in first downs allowed and #4 in rushing defense allowing 67.8 yards per.

Georgia has a narrow led all time in the series of 61-56-8, but they have controlled the rivalry of late. Georgia has taken four in a row, 7 of the last 8, and 8 of the last 10. Georgia will travel to Auburn Saturday for a 3:30 kickoff.
