The CMT Music Awards have a new home.
CBS television network recently revealed Country music's only fan-voted award show, which previously aired via Viacom on CMT, will now air on the network's much larger sister station, CBS. The inaugural airing via CBS will take place live, from Nashville on April 2, 2022 at 8p ET.

In addition to the new channel, the awards show will also air two months earlier than usual, moving from June to April with a week of programming leading up to the event.

The switch-up comes after CBS ended its deal with the Academy Of Country Music Awards this year, which typically aired in April.
With CBS now aligned with the CMT Music Awards, many are curious to see what the Academy of Country Music will come up with and whether or not they will attempt to compete by continuing to air in April.
