Hey it's StyckMan! I remember back in the day Memphis wrestling was EVERYTHING! I would sit home on Saturday morning watching “CWA” wrestling or “Mid South Wrestling”, cheering on my favorites and booing the bad guys. See I’m from the Middle Tennessee area so what I watched on Saturday morning was what you watched THE PREVIOUS Saturday. I can still hear “Lance Russel, Dave Brown right along ringside and boy do we have a card for your today!”

When I was about 14, they would "tour" the show around the state, and would come to the civic center one town over from me in McMinnville, TN .  AS SOON as it was announced on TV, I'd call the Civic Center and talk to Daisy (I still remember her name) and ask if I could be a ring attendant. I would get in for free, get the best seats in the house and would follow the wrestlers to the ring and take their robes and belts back to the dressing room. I would carry Tojo Yamamoto's belts and robes, Jerry Jarrett's jacket, Dutch Mantell's Jacket... oh it was chaos when the Fabulous Ones came to town! They were SO FAMOUS!

We get to relive a little of that THIS WEEK. All Elite Wrestling (AEW) will be at the Landers Center in Southaven. During the show they will pay Tribute to Legends of Memphis Wrestling during their live TNT Television show “Dynamite” Some of the Legends being honored include, Angelo Poffo & Randy Savage, Lance Russell, Dave Brown, “Hot Stuff” Eddie & Tommy Gilbert, Brian Christopher Austin Idol, Rock & Roll Express, and Jimmy Valiant.

It’s kinda hard to celebrate Memphis wrestling without Jerry Lawler but being as he’s pretty tightly wound with WWE, will not be involved in the tribute.
