CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Three people were hurt following a wrong-way overnight crash on northbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive (DLSD.

Chicago Police said the accident occurred at about 3:50 a.m., in the northbound lanes, near the Oak Street curve. A wrong-way vehicle came onto DLSD, hitting a northbound vehicle head-on.

Two women in the wrong-way car suffered serious injuries and were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said.

A man in the other car too was sent to Northwestern. Police said he is in good condition after initially complaining of chest pain.

Police said citations are pending.

As part of the investigation and cleanup, northbound DLSD was closed at Chicago Avenue for nearly three hours and resulted in major congestion during the morning commute.
