CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - As the Jewish holiday of Passover approaches, there was a parade of faith and celebration and matzah in Chicago Thursday.
Eight "mitzvah mobiles”, escorted by the Cook County Sheriff's Police arrived from Skokie and pulled up to Daley Plaza. Young men jumped out and danced, and sang in the cold, March sunlight.
Rabbi Levi Moscowitz explained "mitzvahs" are good deeds and a way to connect to God, and the group was also passing out the traditional Jewish food matzah all of it a feast of joy.
“It’s always important to be joy(ful), like it says in the Torah, ‘to serve God with joy.’ A way to serve God, you have to be joyous, otherwise it’s not going to last. If you’re happy, you can overcome any challenge that comes your way,” Moscowitz said.
