(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A western suburb will celebrate the 4th of July on the 5th of August, following an operational misfire earlier this month.
A computer glitch was blamed for stopping Batavia's fireworks show before the July 4 event even started.
Fireworks Committee Member Susan Stark says the primary and backup computers that were supposed to light the fireworks failed just before showtime. Thousands of attendees went home disappointed.
Now, a makeup date has been set for Aug. 5 at Engstrom Family Park.
Provided the weather cooperates, right?
Stark doesn’t want to go to there – i.e., a discussion about rain dates.
“We don’t even really want to think about it because we’re trying to make this event as good as the actual Fourth of July event should have been.”
