When it comes to Italian food, Villa Ballanca in Lower Burrell is one of my FAVORITE places to go.

Not only is the food delicious, the family that owns Villa Ballanca is the definition of welcoming.

Unfortunately, during this time of crisis, they were forced to close their doors to the public, but that didn't stop them from helping those in need.

Saturday afternoon they stopped traffic on Leechburg Road in Lower Burrell when they offered free meals to those in need!

While it says 700 in the Facebook post, according to the report by KDKA, a representative for the restaurant said that they ended up giving 1,000 meals away in the first hour!

The meals included pizzas, hoagies, stuffed shells, chicken francese manicotti, gnocci and spaghetti with meatballs.

This wasn't the only time they fed those in need.. Villa Ballanca also took meals to the employees of Allegheny Valley Hospital this week, thanking them for all that they are doing to fight the coronavirus.

What great people doing great things for those in need.. Thank you Villa Ballanca for spreading the love!
