After working on it for 3 years, Kenny Chesney has released his new album, Silver Sands Marina. The Country Music Hall of Famer joined Rob + Holly during this week’s Friday Night Takeover to take them inside the album, his creative process, touring lifestyle, and much more.

Chesney dove into the making of Silver Sands Marina, particularly his song "Goldfish," whose tropical and island-infused vibe inspired a Maui music video shoot right after wrapping up his high-profile residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas. "We all flew to Maui to record the ‘Goldfish’ video just because, who knows, it will probably never be on the radio, but we decided we were just gonna go have fun."
"Somebody brought... an actual fish bowl with a goldfish in it, and I held the goldfish, I held that the whole time that I was in Maui... no matter where we went, I was holding this bowl with a goldfish in it."
Kenny also shares the backstory of writing and selecting tracks for his album, highlighting songs like "Remember Me That Way," co-written by Shane McAnally and HARDY, and "It Just Got Weird," a track he saved for over five years before bringing in Megan Moroney to provide the powerful female counterpoint.
Despite decades in the music industry, Kenny maintains a youthful mindset, attributing his energy to the passion of live audiences and the constant creative pull of songwriting. "I don't know, it has a way of keeping you young, and vibrant, and creative and curious,” Chesney admits. “I think music does that, in creating it and giving it to the world. So, yeah, I hope I never really grow up."
