NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Cher is teaming up with New York City to provide free COVID-19 vaccinations and testing to New Yorkers over the next few weeks.
A CherCares mobile medical unit will travel across Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx through mid-July to provide free access to vaccines and testing regardless of immigration status or insurance coverage (locations and dates below).
The initiative is part of a partnership between the CherCares Pandemic Resource and Research Fund—co-founded by Cher and Columbia University’s Dr. Irwin Redlener—the Children’s Health Fund, the National Center for Disaster Preparedness, and Mayor Bill de Blasio.
“I feel so fortunate to be able to do my part to ensure access for the children and families in New York City – my second home – by going directly into the community in hopes it will encourage more New Yorkers to come on board and keep themselves and their neighbors safe,” Cher said in a statement.
De Blasio said he’s “grateful to CherCares and Columbia University’s National Center for Disaster Preparedness for their support” as he urged New Yorkers to get vaccinated.
The CherCares mobile unit will be operated by the NYC Health + Hospitals Test & Trace Corps. No appointments are necessary. Here are the locations and dates where it will be:
