The sweetest surprise!
An unexpected delivery arrived at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Valentine's Day.
At approximately 7 a.m., a Chicago police officer responded to what he thought was a stranded motorist.
Instead, he ended up delivering a baby in the frigid temperatures.
As he approached the vehicle, he heard the driver yelling, “The baby's coming out!” WLS-TV reports.
"The officer was at the right place at the right time and was able to deliver a healthy baby boy," police spokesman Michael Carroll explained
The officer called for paramedics, but since the 34-year-old mom from Wisconsin was already crowning, she gave birth on the spot, Carroll noted.
She and the baby were taken to Resurrection Hospital by the Chicago Fire Department.
Carroll said they were both “doing great.”
The officer, who remains unnamed, is a 25-year-veteran of the CPD who is two weeks away from retirement.
He declined to speak to the media as he did not want to steal the spotlight from the mom and her bundle of joy.
"Congratulations to the new mother and Happy Birthday to the newborn baby boy," Carroll concluded.
